Privacy
ArchiNetworks is a professional network for architecture in the United Kingdom. This page explains, in plain English, what we hold about you, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to everyone who uses the site, whether you have an account or not.

What we hold
Your account. An email address and a password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash — nobody at ArchiNetworks can read yours, and we will never ask you for it.
Your profile and your work. Whatever you choose to put on it: your name, the handle in your profile URL, a headline, a city, your stage in the profession, skills, what you are open to, your CV entries, and any portfolio projects and images you upload. All of it is yours to edit or remove at any time.
What you do here. Applications you send, messages you exchange with practices and members, connections you make, and roles you save.
A small amount of technical information. Each sign-in creates a session record holding the browser's user-agent string, so you can see and end sessions that are not yours. We record which profiles and cards were viewed so that members can see who has been looking at their work. We do not log your IP address against your account, we do not build advertising profiles, and there is no third-party analytics or tracking script anywhere on this site.
Cookies
One cookie, called anw_session. It keeps you signed in and nothing else. It is strictly necessary for the site to work, so there is no cookie banner asking you to accept tracking — because there is no tracking to accept.
Who can see your profile
Member profiles are behind the sign-in. Only signed-in members and the practices we have verified can read them, and every profile page is marked noindex, so your work is not published to Google or any other search engine. Practices' own pages are public, because practices join in order to be found.
When you apply to a role, the practice that posted it sees your profile, your CV and anything you send with the application. When you message someone, they see what you wrote. Nothing else is shared with them.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to advertisers or recruiters. It leaves our server in only two situations:
- Hosting. The site and its database run on servers in the European Union operated on our behalf.
- The AI writing helper. If — and only if — you press the AI button while writing up a project or a CV entry, the notes you typed are sent to Anthropic to be turned into a draft, and the draft comes straight back to you. Anthropic does not train models on it. If you never press the button, nothing is ever sent.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Under UK GDPR we rely on contract — we cannot run an account, an application or a message thread without the data behind it — and on legitimate interests for keeping the network safe and working, such as session records and the view counts members see on their own profiles. Where we ever need consent, we will ask for it plainly and you can withdraw it as easily as you gave it.
How long we keep it
Your account and everything on it stays until you delete it. Raw view and impression rows are kept for 90 days and then deleted, leaving only anonymous daily counts. Sessions expire on their own. When you close your account we delete your profile, your projects, your messages and your applications; anonymous counts that no longer identify you may remain.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, hand it to you in a portable form, or stop a particular use of it. Most of that you can do yourself from your settings; for the rest, email hello@archinetworks.com and we will answer within one month. If you think we have got it wrong you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you told us first.
Keeping it safe
The site is served over HTTPS only. Passwords are hashed, session tokens are stored hashed so a stolen database row cannot be replayed, and access to the server is limited to the people who run it.
Age
ArchiNetworks is for people in architectural education or practice and is not intended for under-16s. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change how any of this works we will update this page and change the date below. Material changes will be told to members directly rather than left here to be discovered.
